Lately, I’ve taken a deep dive into sketchup in an attempt to learn the software. I’m just about done with my first completed plan for a set of night stands I’m building and ran into a snag when preparing to mill up lumber. The walnut pieces that I happened to have on hand had large odd splits in them, and I just didn’t want to fool with making table tops from the pieces. To keep the project moving at a swift pace, I opted to pay a visit to a local Sawyer and Farmer @hoodfarmsandsawmill that just happens to be about 10 mins from my house. After picking up my measly little 7 inch wide dimensional walnut board, Adrian took a few minutes to show me around his lumber yard and some of his favorite slabs in the barn. Check out the full format video of my tour below.
If you’re in the Midwest and need a reliable source for large format furniture, keep HoodFarms and Sawmill in mind. Give them a follow on instagram @hoodfarmsandsawmill as soon as you follow me of course.
If want to have something built from a slab @ Hood Farms, I can help you with that too… Head over to the contact page and give me a shout.
